A Look At The Different Types Of Crane Rental

Whether you are in the construction industry or some other field, there may come a time when you need to rent a crane to help you complete a project. Some business owners prefer to rent cranes over buying them since these machines can sometimes cost millions of dollars to purchase. If you ever have to rent a crane, it will be helpful to know what is available. Take a look at this short list of different types of crane rentals that are available.

Crawler Cranes

Crawler cranes are some of the largest cranes there are, and these monstrous machines are commonly relied on by people in the shipping industry and other large-scale projects. Crawler cranes have a massive base with tracks that can crawl over just about any terrain, but their primary advantage is just how much weight the boom can safely lift.

Hydraulic Truck Cranes

Hydraulic truck cranes are cranes that are attached to an actual truck. These cranes are convenient because they can simply be driven to the project location on the roadway without having to arrange to haul the crane. Furthermore, there are no real special skills required for the operation of these cranes. The truck has stabilizing arms that extend from either side and the crane can be raised and lowered much like it would on a boom or lift truck.

All-Terrain Cranes

All-terrain cranes are built with sturdy all-terrain bases that are capable of navigating over the toughest types of ground. For example, a construction project that is taking place on a rocky mountainous terrain may need an all-terrain crane to help carry and hoist materials to different points along the mountainside.

Tower Cranes

Tower cranes are probably the tallest cranes you can rent, with some models extending to the height of hundreds or thousands of feet into the air. Tower cranes are commonly used in projects that involve construction processes on high-rise builds. For example, a construction crew roofing a skyscraper may need a tower crane to hoist materials to the top of the building.

Gantry Cranes

Gantry cranes can range in size from small to massive, but they are all made about the same. These cranes are designed to be stationary, with a fixed frame that straddles an area, and a lift boom that will pick up heavy objects from the straddled area. These cranes are commonly rented for construction projects or manufacturing processes.
